Chapter 157: The Small Armory
Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies
An Nan decisively took most of the food supplies, but after thinking it over, she still left some behind.
What was left would be enough for the outer residents to get by for a while.
After all, they weren’t mortal enemies, nor were they like the neighbors at Maple Grove Estates who had coveted her things.
She was happy not to go to extremes, leaving them a way to survive.
After collecting the rice, flour, grains, and oil, she moved on to gather up the miscellaneous household supplies in the rooms—candles, alcohol, gas canisters, and so on.
It took her nearly an hour before she finally walked out of the warehouse.
Then she headed straight for Hou Jianming’s villa.
From what she’d learned about him over the past few days, there were definitely some good things hidden inside.
She used Hou Jianming’s fingerprint to enter, just like before.
The entire entryway wall was lined with shoe cabinets, but An Nan had no interest in his stinky shoes and ignored them completely.
The living room was still as lavish as ever. An Nan swept all his electronics—TV, air conditioner, robot vacuum, and so on—into her storage space, leaving only the expensive, plush-looking sofa behind.
Hou Jianming spent every day sprawled on that sofa. God knows what that pervert had done on it. An Nan gave it a wide berth and went to check out the other rooms on the first floor.
When she reached one of the doors, her eyes lit up.
The door had clearly been modified, just like the front entrance, with a fingerprint lock and facial recognition.
There had to be something good inside!
She went back to the entryway, found Hou Jianming—whom she’d tossed by the door when she first came in—and dragged him over to unlock the door.
But as the door opened, An Nan’s excitement turned to disappointment—and shock.
The room was actually this old pervert’s “pleasure chamber”!
Inside were all sorts of unspeakable devices and toys strictly off-limits to anyone under eighteen.
She backed out in disgust, feeling thankful she hadn’t taken that sofa.
Apparently, this middle-aged creep couldn’t even wait to go upstairs to the bedroom—he’d set up his “entertainment” space and toys right here on the first floor.
Thinking about how he’d once said he wanted her to be the “lady of the base,” An Nan felt her stomach churn.
She slammed the door shut with a kick. “You really needed a fingerprint lock for this stuff?”
She’d thought there’d be some high-end supplies—what a waste of her time!
An Nan moved on to another room, which also had a fingerprint lock.
Surely there’d be something worthwhile this time?
She opened the door. The room’s soft pink lights flicked on automatically, revealing a bunch of red fabric hanging from the ceiling.
What was this, aerial yoga?
All four walls were lined with whips, handcuffs, blindfolds, and things that looked like fox tails in various colors.
In the center of the room was a chair covered in all sorts of bizarre handles.
An Nan: …
What the heck! What is all this?!
She was speechless.
Fuming, she grabbed Hou Jianming’s head and banged it against the wall a couple of times.
“Old pervert, what the hell is in your head?!”
After cursing him out, she slammed the door shut with another kick.
There was one last room on the first floor, also locked.
An Nan sighed. No need to look—probably more of the same filthy stuff.
Clearly, Hou Jianming had dedicated the whole first floor to his “entertainment.”
She headed for the stairs, planning to go straight to the second floor.
But just as her foot touched the steps, she hesitated, then turned back to the one room she hadn’t opened yet.
Since she was already here, she might as well check.
Worst case, she’d just have to wash her eyes out later.
She scanned the fingerprint and face, and as the door swung open, An Nan instinctively turned her head and squeezed her eyes shut.
But when she forced herself to look, she was surprised.
This time, it was actually a small armory!
She’d almost missed it!
All because of that damn pervert.
Annoyed, she banged Hou Jianming’s head against the wall again.
Inside the room, nearly everything was a cold weapon—not just ordinary kitchen knives and axes, but high-quality swords, sabers, and clubs.
What caught her eye most was a crossbow, complete with a stash of sharp bolts.
Aside from firearms, this was probably the most lethal ranged weapon she could get—much better than her nail gun.
Besides the crossbow, there was a razor-sharp Tang sword, a spiked meteor hammer, a pair of nunchaku she had no idea how to use, and who knows what else Hou Jianming had managed to collect.
An Nan didn’t bother examining them closely—she just swept them all into her storage space.
There were also about twenty electric batons, which she took as well.
In the center of the armory stood a conspicuous vase.
The whole room was filled with steel weapons, so this fragile vase looked completely out of place.
For some reason, An Nan suddenly remembered the secret room she’d found in the boss’s office when she’d searched the mall.
She walked over and tried twisting the vase.
Sure enough, a hidden compartment appeared at the back of the room.
The space wasn’t large—about the size of a wardrobe.
Inside were two handguns, an assault rifle, and three shotguns.
Shotguns were unbeatable in close combat, and An Nan’s storage had just been missing one—this would really round out her arsenal.
She picked up each gun for a look. They were probably homemade, but still perfectly usable.
No wonder, at the banquet, Zhu Dazhuang had turned to look at Hou Jianming when he heard that Er Kui had been killed by an assault rifle.
An Nan had thought their reactions were odd at the time.
Turns out they both had assault rifles in their possession.
But Hou Jianming, despite having such good stuff, hadn’t carried it with him—he’d just hidden it away in his armory.
He probably figured that, for now, there was nothing in Linbei City worth using such hardcore weapons on.
Well, now An Nan had lucked out.
She thought to herself how lucky she was to have sneaked in ahead of time. Otherwise, if Hou Jianming and Zhu Dazhuang had come to Maple Grove Estates to take revenge on her, they’d definitely have brought the assault rifle and shotguns.
That would have been dangerous.
The existence of these guns also reminded An Nan to stay cautious in the future—she wasn’t the only one who might have firearms.
She swept all the guns and three big boxes of ammo into her storage, then headed upstairs to the second floor.
There were only two large rooms on the second floor: Hou Jianming’s bedroom and his walk-in closet.
The bedroom reeked of an unpleasant stench—a mix of sour sweat and foot odor. The bedding on the bed was a messy, tangled heap.
The bathroom in the suite was even worse—An Nan took one look and backed out in disgust.
The walk-in closet across the hall, however, proved more fruitful.
Inside was a huge glass display case filled with all sorts of luxury watches, many of them collector’s items.
An Nan guessed these must have come from the collector’s vault, along with books and paintings.
With a wave of her hand, she swept them all into her storage.
As for Hou Jianming’s worn clothes and pants, An Nan had no interest in taking those.
He might look like a flashy boss, but he’d mixed his sweat-stained dirty clothes in with the clean ones, piling them carelessly in the closet.
She walked away in disgust, about to leave, when suddenly a safe in the corner caught her eye."
