Chapter 204: The Flirtatious Chicken

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

When Chu Peipei said this, her face was full of concern.

Last night, that child lay in her arms, crying in her sleep and calling out that she was scared.

Who knows what she’s been through.

An Nan got up and went to the storage room, coming back with a bag of snacks. Inside were two packs each of shrimp chips, jelly, candy, and seaweed.

After thinking for a moment, she reminded, “Nine-year-olds probably haven’t finished losing their baby teeth yet. Kids love sweets, but don’t give her all the candy at once.”

Chu Peipei nodded, recalling the little girl’s neat row of teeth, and exclaimed, “Huh? I think she’s already lost all her baby teeth?”

But she didn’t dwell on it and continued, “Don’t worry, I know.”

She took the bag from An Nan, peeked inside, and quickly waved her hand, “This is too much. Just the jelly and candy will do.”

As she spoke, she took out the shrimp chips and seaweed, and then brought out the supplies she’d brought to trade.

Besides three packs of instant noodles and some dried vegetables, there were eight eggs—clearly things Chu Peipei had been saving for herself.

An Nan only accepted her things and didn’t take back the snacks. “Keep them all, they’re for the child. Besides, you’ve given me plenty.”

After a bit of back-and-forth, Chu Peipei finally gave in and accepted them.

“I’ll bring my girl over sometime so you can meet her.”

Girl?

An Nan was momentarily confused by the term, then realized Peipei-jie really liked this child—she was treating her like her own daughter.

She smiled and said, “Actually, I was planning to invite you and the folks from the 15th floor over for dinner tomorrow. Bring the kid along so she can play!”

Chu Peipei nodded, then teased as she looked at An Nan and Gu Zhiyu, “It’s worth celebrating properly.”

This time, An Nan didn’t get shy and smiled openly.

For some reason, she really wanted to introduce him to her friends.

Maybe because these people had always been encouraging her before?

Gu Zhiyu glanced at An Nan, seeming to be in a great mood, and for once joined in, “You’re all welcome.”

Seeing his host-like demeanor, Chu Peipei pressed her lips together and smiled even more happily.

Then she caught sight of Laifu, craning his neck behind Gu Zhiyu to eavesdrop, and suddenly thought of something.

“Oh right, Nannan, my Xiaobai just hatched a chick.”

An Nan was surprised. “Huh? Didn’t you eat all her eggs or keep them in the fridge?”

How did she manage to hatch a chick?

Chu Peipei explained, “One day, I couldn’t find any eggs no matter how I looked. I didn’t think much of it, just assumed Xiaobai hadn’t laid any. Later, I found out she’d hidden one and actually hatched a chick.”

Hidden?

An Nan was astonished. “Has your chicken become a spirit?”

Then she frowned. “Wait, you don’t have a rooster. The eggs aren’t fertilized, so how could…”

She suddenly thought of something and turned to look at her own Laifu.

Laifu could understand human speech.

At this moment, he was tiptoeing toward the bedroom.

An Nan raised an eyebrow. “Laifu, come here.”

Laifu pretended not to hear and even sped up.

Fugui, seeing him ignore his owner’s command and sensing he’d finally caught him in the act, charged over.

Laifu, startled, darted a few steps and then leapt straight into Gu Zhiyu’s arms.

He lifted his little head and looked at him pitifully.

Bro, you’re a guy too, you get me, right?

Gu Zhiyu: …

An Nan grabbed Laifu out of his arms. “You little Casanova! You actually got Xiaobai to have your kid right under my nose?!”

Laifu shrank his head, his big eyes darting around.

Chu Peipei watched their antics from the side, finding it both heartwarming and hilarious.

She laughed and asked An Nan, “Do you want me to bring the chick over for you?”

An Nan waved her off. “Xiaobai’s chick, you do as you like.”

Then she glared at Laifu and threatened, “Maybe we’ll raise it and make soup for the kid to nourish her.”

Laifu didn’t react at all.

An Nan flicked his head.

Irresponsible playboy chicken!

They chatted for a while longer, agreed on dinner for the next evening, and Chu Peipei took her leave.

As she left, she shot An Nan a meaningful wink. “Good night, sweet dreams.”

An Nan rolled her eyes. “Goodbye!”

She closed the door and had just turned to head back to the living room when Gu Zhiyu hugged her from behind.

An Nan, who had just relaxed, tensed up again. “Gu Zhiyu…”

Gu Zhiyu seemed to know what she was going to say and gently held her. “Don’t worry, I won’t do anything until you’re ready.”

Then he hugged her tighter. “Just a hug.”

An Nan relaxed, leaning into his arms, feeling warm inside.

He really respected her.

Feeling happy, she turned around, stood on tiptoe, and gave Gu Zhiyu a quick peck on the lips.

Gu Zhiyu hadn’t expected her to be so bold. He froze for a moment, just about to respond, when An Nan quickly pulled away.

She laughed softly, said “Good night,” and slipped back into her room.

Not forgetting to lock the door as usual.

Gu Zhiyu stood there, half amused, half helpless.

He glanced at the three little animals watching the show and reminded the dog, “Your Nan-jie’s gone to bed.”

Only then did Fugui react, rushing to An Nan’s bedroom door and scratching at it.

He scratched a few times, but couldn’t get in, growing frantic.

“Aw aw aw, aw aw aw aw!”

Nan-jie, I haven’t come in yet!

Soon, the door opened, a hand shot out and yanked Fugui inside, then quickly shut again.

Gu Zhiyu chuckled softly in the living room and went back to his own room.

Inside her bedroom, An Nan hugged her dog and let out a sigh of relief.

That was close—almost lost control again.

She slipped into her space with the dog and took a relaxing bath. Afterwards, she lay comfortably on the bed, staring at the ceiling in a daze.

Everything that happened today felt like a dream.

She actually had a boyfriend now??

First boyfriend in two lifetimes.

Gu Zhiyu’s handsome face floated into her mind, and she couldn’t help but smile.

She slept soundly all night.

The next morning, An Nan woke up feeling refreshed and opened the curtains for a look.

It was still raining outside, but much lighter now.

She got dressed, tidied herself up, and left her room with her dog.

Gu Zhiyu was already up and busy in the kitchen.

In a good mood, she ran over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

Gu Zhiyu smiled and was just about to turn around.

An Nan said, “I’m going upstairs to invite Zhao Ping’an and Aunt Hu for dinner tonight.”

With that, she strode off.

Gu Zhiyu smiled wryly.

This little girl is so bold when she’s flirting, but the moment things get serious, she runs away."
