Chapter 221: This Water Is Amazing

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

The two brothers exchanged a glance.

Jiang Weiming shot Jiang Tian a look, signaling him to go take care of the people buying water, while he took An Nan aside for a private conversation.

“Miss An, you can even get your hands on water?”

Could it be that the people backing her are even more powerful than the You family?

An Nan nodded. “I was actually planning to sell water myself.”

That was a lie.

“But since I saw you’re already selling it, I figured I’d save myself the trouble and just sell it to you at a low price.”

That was the truth.

Jiang Weiming asked, “You’re saying your water is cleaner than ours?”

An Nan nodded again. Taking advantage of her backpack as cover, she pulled out a bottle of water she’d filled earlier from her space.

Jiang Weiming took it and examined it closely. The water was crystal clear, without a single speck of floating debris.

His eyes lit up. “Miss An, may I have a taste?”

An Nan replied, “Of course. This bottle is for you.”

She’d already made quite a bit from the brothers before, so giving them a free bottle was no big deal.

Jiang Weiming twisted the cap and took a sip, exclaiming excitedly, “There’s no strange taste at all—this water is amazing!”

An Nan smiled. “So, do you want it?”

Jiang Weiming nodded. “Of course!”

With water of this quality, they could easily sell it to the wealthy at triple the price. Aside from a handful of top families with their own reservoirs, most rich people were still desperate for water.

Just in the villa area halfway up the mountain, the An, Chen, and Wang families were all spending a fortune trying to find water.

No one wanted to drink the You family’s recycled wastewater, but this kind of water would be snapped up in an instant!

He glanced at An Nan, testing the waters. “Miss An, about the price—could you give us a bit of a discount? After all, this isn’t our first time working together…”

An Nan glanced at their water tanker. It was a 20-ton model, able to hold 20,000 liters—about 1,000 barrels of water.

At their current rate of one jin of grain for a barrel of water, a full tanker would fetch about 1,000 jin of grain.

After thinking for a moment, An Nan named her price. “One tanker of water, 2,000 jin of grain.”

Jiang Weiming’s mouth twitched. “2,000 jin? That’s a whole ton! Miss An, you really are as… shrewd as ever.”

An Nan raised an eyebrow. Was he calling her greedy?

She put on a stern face. “I have costs to cover too. This price is already very reasonable.”

Jiang Weiming didn’t see it that way. “Your price is double what we’re selling it for at retail!”

“Retail?” An Nan said bluntly, “You’re not planning to sell this water to these people, are you?”

She glanced over at the long line of people waiting.

Business is business. From what she knew of these brothers, they’d keep selling the murky water to ordinary folks and save the good stuff to sell to the rich at a markup.

“With water of this quality, Boss Jiang, you could sell it in the wealthy districts for double and people would still buy.”

Jiang Weiming looked at An Nan in surprise.

This Miss An was sharp—she’d even guessed his sales strategy.

But he kept up the act. “It’s not like we can mark it up that much. The profit margin is still pretty thin…”

He said that, but he had no intention of letting this deal slip by.

Seeing that An Nan wasn’t budging on the price, he could only ask, “Miss An, how much water can you get?”

An Nan thought for a moment. “How many tankers do you have?”

Jiang Weiming replied, “Right now, I’ve got three.”

An Nan said, “Give me your tankers. My people will go fill them up and bring them back to you.”

Jiang Weiming hesitated.

Hand over his tankers?

An Nan saw his concern and raised an eyebrow. “What, are you worried I’ll drive off with your trucks and never come back?”

Jiang Weiming, caught out, gave an embarrassed laugh. “Of course not, Miss An. Your character is beyond reproach…”

Then he suddenly remembered—the only reason he’d run into her here today was because she lived in this neighborhood.

She couldn’t just disappear.

Plus, they’d done business before. You can’t make money without taking a little risk, and this risk was manageable.

He made up his mind. “Alright, let’s do it! As for the price… if you can get me nine or more truckloads, we’ll go with your price.”

An Nan thought it over. Nine truckloads meant three trips. In the end, she’d get nine tons of grain—not too much trouble.

She readily agreed. “Deal. Nine trucks.”

Then, an idea struck her. “By the way, the people above me are fond of jade. If you can get your hands on high-quality jadeite, you can use that instead of grain.”

Jiang Weiming frowned. “That I really don’t have.”

He had plenty of grain, earned from selling water and medicine, but high-grade jadeite was another story.

An Nan didn’t push it. Good jade was hard to come by, after all.

They agreed on the time and place for the transaction, and she turned to leave.

Jiang Weiming returned to his brother and resumed selling water.

As Jiang Tian filled water for customers, he asked quietly, “How did it go, bro?”

Jiang Weiming was in high spirits. “We’re about to strike it rich.”

With the water he’d get for nine tons of grain, he could sell it for thirty tons’ worth.

Jiang Tian brightened up too. “Miss An really is our lucky star!”

The wastewater they were selling now wasn’t available every day—they had to wait until the You family collected enough for a full tanker before they could sell it.

And the money they made from those sales? The brothers only got thirty percent; the rest had to be handed over to the You family. They never saw the big profits.

But the goods they got from Miss An were different. All the profit was theirs.

Jiang Tian was so happy that even his voice grew louder as he hawked their wares:

“Hey! No cutting in line!”

Meanwhile, An Nan had just walked back into the neighborhood when she ran into Zhao Ping’an and Chu Peipei again.

This time, even Hu Cuilan had come along. The three of them were carrying a lot of buckets and had even brought a cart full of grain.

An Nan stopped them. “Don’t bother lining up. This batch of water is used wastewater from rich families—it’s filthy.”

Chu Peipei was stunned. “Wastewater?”

She swallowed. It was a little disgusting, but she’d drunk floodwater before—having something to drink was better than nothing.

An Nan knew what she was thinking, so she added, “I just talked to them. In a couple of days, we can get much cleaner water, and at a 70% discount.”

“Seventy percent off?!”

Zhao Ping’an and Chu Peipei were both overjoyed.

Hu Cuilan, however, was cautious. “Water is so precious now. Can they really give it to us at a discount? Are you sure it’s not a scam?”

An Nan shook her head. “No. We’ve done business before. Nothing will go wrong.”

She spoke with absolute confidence. Whether they were scammers or not didn’t matter—after all, the water was coming from her own space."
