Chapter 222: The Armored Vehicle Belongs to Gu Zhiyu

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

After seeing the bucket of filthy water from the Jiang brothers, An Nan decided to just take water directly from her space for Chu Peipei and the others.

They were friends, after all—she couldn’t just stand by and watch them drink the foot-washing water of the rich, could she?

As for selling it at 30% of the usual price, that was the most reasonable solution she could think of.

Even though she wasn’t short on food, she couldn’t just give away water for free—that would arouse suspicion.

Thirty percent was already a dirt-cheap price, and Chu Peipei and the others could easily afford it.

Hu Cuilan, knowing An Nan was reliable, was delighted by her offer.

“So, how much water are they willing to give us?”

An Nan thought for a moment. “They’re not short on water. It depends on how much we want.”

Hu Cuilan beamed. “Great, I’ll go home and count our supplies, see how much we can buy.”

Zhao Ping’an, standing to the side, exclaimed, “Idol, you’re amazing! You have connections everywhere!”

Chu Peipei chimed in, “Exactly! With Nannan around, nothing ever seems difficult.”

An Nan just smiled without saying anything.

The group picked up their buckets and headed home.

Even though they’d made a trip for nothing, being able to buy clean, cheap water was well worth a few extra runs.

Halfway home, Chu Peipei suddenly remembered, “Wait, I originally came out to buy candles and joss paper!”

Zhao Ping’an added, “Right! And my iron, too.”

He scratched his head. “We’ve been running back and forth so much, I’m getting dizzy.”

An Nan glanced at the buckets in their hands. “I’ll help Aunt Hu carry your things up. You two go take care of your errands.”

They both nodded. “That works!”

By the time An Nan finished helping and got home, Gu Zhiyu had already made dinner.

She quickly wiped her hands with a disinfectant wipe and sat down at the table.

“Comrade Xiao Gu, you really are a man of your word—dinner’s ready so fast.”

Gu Zhiyu smiled as he served her rice. “Just some simple, quick dishes.”

An Nan looked at the table: stir-fried pork, spicy shredded potatoes, tomato and egg, tofu soup. All quick dishes, but they looked and smelled amazing, making her mouth water.

She took a bite of the potatoes and sighed, “What did I do to deserve having the big boss cook for me every day?”

Gu Zhiyu sat down too, picking up his chopsticks and placing a piece of meat in her bowl.

“And what did I do to deserve the good fortune of cooking for Miss An Nan?”

An Nan shot him a playful look. “You’re going to spoil me!”

Then she tried the stir-fried pork.

Silently, she marveled at how his cooking had never once disappointed her—every dish was delicious.

She’d thought he only knew how to make Western food, but who would’ve guessed he could do home-style dishes with such down-to-earth flair?

A truly grounded rich guy.

Just then, something occurred to An Nan. She looked up and asked, “Have you ever hosted a pool party at your house?”

Gu Zhiyu looked a bit surprised. “No, never. Why do you ask?”

“Oh,” An Nan replied, “someone downstairs was selling water, claiming it was wastewater from a rich family’s house…”

Wastewater, pool party?

Gu Zhiyu caught on. “You must be talking about the You family.”

“The You family?”

An Nan frowned. “That young master You who does animal experiments?”

Gu Zhiyu nodded. “That’s him. He likes throwing pool parties. There was talk before that their family was selling their wastewater.”

An Nan was stunned. “It’s their family selling it?”

She’d thought the Jiang brothers had collected wastewater from a bunch of rich families and mixed it together to sell.

But it turned out it was just the You family’s household wastewater?

That was extravagant.

The wealth of the truly rich was beyond imagination.

Thinking of this, she suddenly looked at Gu Zhiyu. “Are you richer than the You family?”

After all, the Gu Group ranked ahead of Taiyu Group.

Gu Zhiyu chuckled. “My girlfriend finally wants to check my net worth?”

An Nan cleared her throat. “I’m just curious. You don’t have to answer.”

Gu Zhiyu replied seriously, “Of course I have to answer honestly.”

“I am a bit better off than they are. Right before the disaster hit, the shopping malls I’d been building all over the country were just about to open. Because of the torrential rains, the openings failed, and I had all the supplies stored away properly.”

“Except…”

He gave An Nan a meaningful look.

But An Nan didn’t notice his gaze.

Her mind was reeling from what he’d just said—shopping malls, failed openings, supplies…

Suddenly, it hit her like a bolt of lightning—the mall she’d cleaned out before, could it have belonged to Gu Zhiyu too??

Then she remembered the Knight XV armored vehicle she’d taken along with the mall supplies.

Before the disaster, when she’d gone to the hillside villa to get the tri-edged bayonet, she’d seen that car.

Thinking about it now, the only person in the area who could drive that kind of car was Gu Zhiyu!

The supplies and armored vehicle she’d taken… were actually Gu Zhiyu’s?!

An Nan was dumbfounded.

Meanwhile, Gu Zhiyu continued, “When I saw the disaster coming, besides the goods in the malls, I also bought a huge amount of survival supplies at high prices.”

“Right now, everything is stored in three big warehouses: the North Warehouse, the South Warehouse, and the Northwest Warehouse.”

An Nan was even more shocked. “You even had time to build warehouses?”

Gu Zhiyu shook his head. “They weren’t built later. When I first took over the Gu Group, I picked three mountains and built those warehouses, stocking up on all sorts of things.”

An Nan asked, “When you first took over? Why?”

If he’d already inherited the group and had countless assets, why act like a hoarder?

Gu Zhiyu thought for a moment. “Probably because I never felt secure. The group wasn’t easy to control.”

He’d grown up in an orphanage, used to hiding limited food to make it last, and used to the idea that good things could be snatched away at any time.

So even after taking over the group, he still liked to stash things away in secret places, just for himself.

An Nan listened and nodded in understanding.

After experiencing trauma, developing a hoarding habit was normal.

She was the same way now. Even though she had more than enough supplies in her space, she still felt insecure, instinctively trading water for food and stockpiling more.

After Gu Zhiyu finished explaining, he added seriously,

“In any case, now that we’re together…”

He paused, his tone solemn. “And we’ll always be together from now on.

So everything I have is yours too. If you want, I can take you to see our warehouses.”

An Nan tensed up at his words.

What was going on?

What did he mean, our warehouses?!

They’d only been dating for two months, and this man was already handing over his entire fortune?

Was he crazy in love or what…

An Nan suddenly felt inexplicably nervous."
