Chapter 237: Leaving 1402

Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies

An Nan was skeptical. “What if we never ran into each other? Could you really go your whole life without finding another girlfriend?”

Gu Zhiyu didn’t even hesitate. “Yeah.”

An Nan was surprised. “Huh?”

Gu Zhiyu explained, “Before I met you, I spent twenty-eight years on my own.”

He looked at An Nan seriously. “I like you because you’re you, not because I wanted to find a woman and you just happened to show up.”

An Nan was a bit slow to react. “But that’s impossible…”

Gu Zhiyu turned the question around. “Well, if you hadn’t met me, would you have found another man to date?”

In her heart, An Nan thought, of course not.

She hadn’t dated anyone in her previous life, and after being reborn, she had even less interest in romance—she just wanted to live well on her own. Gu Zhiyu’s appearance was purely an accident.

Suddenly, she understood what Gu Zhiyu meant.

But seeing how serious he looked, she couldn’t help teasing him. “Of course. If I hadn’t met you, I’d be dating someone else by now.”

Gu Zhiyu narrowed his eyes. “Say that again?”

Sensing a hint of danger—and remembering how things almost got out of hand yesterday—An Nan immediately caved. “I’m just kidding!”

Gu Zhiyu gave a soft snort. “Don’t joke about that.”

An Nan quickly made her escape. “Not talking to you anymore, I need to hurry up and move my stuff!”

She turned back to look at him. “Aren’t you leaving?”

Gu Zhiyu glanced at his watch. “I’m going now.”

Then he reminded her, “Be careful.”

An Nan slung her assault rifle over her shoulder. “Don’t worry.”

After a moment’s thought, she found another one and tossed it to him. “You be careful too.”

Gu Zhiyu caught the gun and slung it over his shoulder as well. “Don’t worry.”

Once Gu Zhiyu left, An Nan waved her hand and stored most of her supplies into her space.

She only left a small amount of lighter items, which she moved onto the truck.

Soon, 1402 was nothing but an empty apartment.

Laifu and Lord Rabbit anxiously paced around her feet.

An Nan reassured them, “Don’t worry, we’re just moving. We’re going to a better house.”

The “worldly” Fugui immediately gave Laifu and Lord Rabbit each a smack.

Stop fussing! Don’t you want to move to a big villa?

The other two instantly quieted down and watched An Nan dismantle the door.

That’s right—An Nan didn’t even leave behind the bulletproof glass and armored door. She took everything apart to bring to the new house.

After moving everything, she brought the three little ones onto the truck.

Seeing that the truck was still half empty, she headed over to Chu Peipei’s place and knocked on the door.

“Peipei-jie, are you up?”

Chu Peipei opened the door. “Nannan. I just finished packing.”

An Nan said, “Gu Zhiyu helped get a truck. Move your stuff onto it—it’ll save us a few trips.”

Chu Peipei’s eyes lit up. “That’s great!”

She carried some things and followed An Nan downstairs, then stared at the truck in surprise.

“Nannan, is this all you have?”

She actually had more supplies than An Nan.

An Nan replied casually, “I got up early and already moved most of it over. This is just the last bit.”

Chu Peipei nodded. “Okay, I’ll go get the rest of my stuff.”

After thinking for a moment, she added, “Nannan, since we’re using your truck, I’ll cover the gas.”

An Nan didn’t stand on ceremony. “Alright.”

While Chu Peipei was moving her things, An Nan went to find Zhao Ping’an.

Zhao Ping’an and Hu Cuilan were also packing up.

They had even more supplies than Chu Peipei, so An Nan lent them her Wuling minivan, giving them two vans to use.

Fortunately, Aunt Hu could drive too. The mother and son each drove a van, and An Nan took Chu Peipei—four people in total—straight to the hillside villa.

Once they arrived at the villa community and unloaded everything, An Nan stayed behind to guard the supplies while the other three went back for more trips.

Chu Peipei looked at the big truck, a bit troubled. “I don’t know how to drive a truck…”

An Nan was about to say something when Zhao Ping’an raised his hand. “I can drive it.”

Then he asked her, “Can you drive a van?”

Chu Peipei nodded. “That I can do.”

So Zhao Ping’an drove the truck, and Chu Peipei and Aunt Hu each drove a van back to Maple Forest Estate.

An Nan’s things were all moved, so she started tidying up her room.

Fugui and Lord Rabbit were both extremely excited, dashing and leaping all over the villa, inspecting their new territory.

Laifu was more composed, head held high, strolling around at a measured pace.

Watching the dog and rabbit run wild, An Nan warned, “No peeing or pooping everywhere to mark your territory!”

Fugui and Lord Rabbit understood and immediately toned it down.

An Nan carefully checked the villa to make sure that during the night she was away, no outsiders had entered and no cameras or bugs had been installed.

Only then did she start a thorough cleaning.

Anything useless in the villa went straight into her space; anything useful she left in place.

Once every room was spotless, An Nan took supplies out of her space and put them in each room.

Meanwhile, back at Maple Forest Estate, the three returning movers attracted the neighbors’ attention.

“Hey, look, the people from Building 6—are they moving out?”

“Yeah! I saw the demoness loading stuff into a big truck this morning.”

“What does this mean? Is it not safe to stay here anymore?”

Their high-profile move caused a stir among the residents.

People always liked to keep an eye on the “rich.” After surviving several disasters, An Nan and her group from Building 6 had become the trendsetters of the neighborhood.

Now that they were suddenly all moving out, the neighbors started to panic.

A few bold ones, seeing the demoness wasn’t around, plucked up the courage to come over.

“Hey man, why are you guys moving? Did you hear some inside info?”

Zhao Ping’an glanced at them, warily guarding the supplies on the truck.

Chu Peipei shot him a look, signaling him to keep moving while she stayed to deal with the neighbors.

“We’re being recruited as special talents to help build an official base.”

“Special talents?” The neighbors were baffled.

Chu Peipei nodded.

When you’re out in the world, you make up your own identity.

She wasn’t about to tell them they were moving to a hillside villa. If everyone followed them there, wouldn’t that be a headache?

Someone else mustered up the courage to ask, “I want to help the government too—can you put in a good word for me?”

Chu Peipei glanced at him and kept making things up. “I can’t. Unless the authorities reach out to you directly.”

The man looked disappointed and could only stare enviously at the supplies on the truck and vans.

Chu Peipei raised her pistol. “Any other questions?”

The group quickly backed away and left. “Sorry to bother you!”

Meanwhile, as An Nan was repairing the villa’s exterior wall, an unexpected visitor arrived.

“Hey! Who are you? I’ve never seen you around before!”"
