Chapter 118: Gunfire Rampage
Natural Disasters and the End of the World
“Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat...”
With a cold, expressionless face, An Nan squeezed the trigger, gripping the gun tightly as she unleashed a wild, indiscriminate barrage of bullets.
The dozen or so men at the front, including the squad leader, dropped instantly—their arrogant grins still frozen on their faces.
Chu Peipei wasn’t about to be outdone. She raised her weapon and opened fire on the remaining crowd.
“Dadadadadada...”
Bullet holes bloomed across the thugs’ bodies, and they fell one after another.
The few men hiding at the back were terrified, their legs trembling as they tried to flee downstairs.
But the two women advanced as they fired, sweeping the area with their guns. In just a few moments, all fifty or so enemies were wiped out.
They reloaded with fresh magazines and continued down the stairs.
Outside the building.
Er Kui paused, stunned, as the sound of gunfire echoed from inside.
That sound... Could it be one of Zhao Ping’an’s weird contraptions? Or maybe they were playing some scary sound effect to intimidate them?
He never even considered the possibility of submachine guns or assault rifles.
This wasn’t America! Or Myanmar!
No one in all of Huaguo had ever seen someone blasting away with firearms on the street!
He turned to the second squad leader, puzzled. “Huzi, what’s that noise?”
Huzi was just as bewildered. “Er Kui, why does it sound like gunfire to me...?”
“No way! If it really was a gun, wouldn’t that mean—” He glanced at the pistol in his hand. “Wouldn’t that mean submachine guns?”
Impossible. This was Huaguo!
But before he could finish, two fully armed women strode out of the building.
Even with their faces hidden under helmets, it was obvious they were women—one of them had a figure that was just too perfect to miss...
And in their hands—
“Submachine guns?!”
“Assault rifles?!”
Er Kui and Huzi’s eyes widened in unison, and the gang members behind them were all dumbfounded.
Their shock quickly turned to sheer terror.
Holy shit!!
“Run!!!”
Huzi screamed, turning to flee in a panic, but his legs were so weak he could barely move.
Er Kui tried to raise his pistol to shoot first, but the women were faster.
“Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat...”
“Dadadadadada...”
An Nan and Chu Peipei fired into the crowd from both sides.
The thugs were packed so tightly together that there was no need to aim carefully—every bullet hit its mark. All they had to do was keep the guns steady and not spray into the sky.
The gangsters were riddled with bullets, dropping in rows like wheat before a scythe.
Even as he fell, Er Kui clung tightly to his pistol, disbelief frozen on his face.
“How... how is this possible...?”
Then his eyes closed forever.
In less than a minute, the battle was over—utterly one-sided.
The courtyard was littered with a hundred corpses, blood soaking the ground.
An Nan picked up Er Kui’s pistol, just in case someone else tried to use it for evil, and walked back to Chu Peipei.
The two women took off their helmets and exchanged a smile.
The residents watching from above were all stunned.
The two armed women below—one with a shaved head, the other with rare, clean, long hair—were clearly Chu Peipei and An Nan from the 14th floor!
The residents stared at them, trembling, their eyes filled with awe and fear.
These two women were terrifying!
That wasn’t a fight just now—it was a massacre!
They were already so powerful, and now fate had given them firearms on top of that!
It just wasn’t fair...
The whole neighborhood fell into silence.
Suddenly, a shout rang out from above.
“Holy shit! Awesome!!”
On the 15th floor, Zhao Ping’an threw open a window and yelled excitedly.
Then, unable to contain himself, he rushed out of his apartment and ran downstairs.
Behind him, Hu Cuilan was also shocked, but seeing her son so worked up, she couldn’t help but smile.
“This rascal!”
She glanced at the two girls downstairs, a sigh in her heart.
Her son really had made some strong and reliable friends.
The apocalypse was hard, but she hoped these kids would stay true to themselves, keep growing, and survive.
Downstairs.
Zhao Ping’an burst out, barely able to contain his excitement.
“I was upstairs, all tense and ready for a fight! Then suddenly there’s a burst of gunfire, and when I look, you two are downstairs mowing everyone down! That was... incredible!!”
An Nan smiled, about to reply, when another shout came from not far away.
“An Nan! Sun Peng is trying to run!!”
She looked over and saw Wang Xiaoyu.
Wang Xiaoyu was sitting on the ground, clutching the leg of Sun Peng—who was missing an arm—shouting toward them.
It turned out Sun Peng had been wounded and collapsed, narrowly escaping the massacre.
Seeing all the thugs dead and An Nan and Chu Peipei distracted by Zhao Ping’an, he tried to sneak away.
After all, he’d just betrayed An Nan and killed Chu Peipei’s husband. If they found out he was still alive, he was doomed!
But he’d barely taken a few steps before Wang Xiaoyu caught him.
Wang Xiaoyu had been dragged away by a thug collecting protection food, but before they left the compound, gunfire erupted.
The thug hurried back, only to be gunned down by An Nan.
Luckily, Wang Xiaoyu had the sense to hide and didn’t follow the idiot back.
She was still in shock at the carnage when she saw Sun Peng crawling out from a pile of corpses, sneaking her way.
Remembering what he’d done to her before, Wang Xiaoyu grabbed him and called out to An Nan.
Heartless bastard! Let’s see what you do now!
Sun Peng, furious at being betrayed, pulled out a knife he’d taken from a corpse and stabbed it into her neck.
Wang Xiaoyu’s eyes widened in shock as she collapsed.
By then, Chu Peipei and An Nan had rushed over.
Chu Peipei raised her gun and shot Sun Peng in both legs and his knife arm, crippling him instantly.
Sun Peng fell to the ground, groaning in pain.
Chu Peipei glanced at An Nan. “Nannan, leave him to me.”
An Nan nodded.
Sun Peng was Chu Peipei’s enemy to begin with—letting her deal with him was only right.
Chu Peipei smiled at her, then stomped hard on Sun Peng’s chest.
“You killed my husband, didn’t you?”
Sun Peng felt pain shooting through every part of his body.
He knew he was finished. Even if Chu Peipei let him go, with his injuries, there was no way he’d survive..."
