Chapter 114: Special Mental Power, Part 1
Picking Up Trash in Another World and Bringing It Back to the Apocalypse
The mental power training room before them was a rare sight in the whole world—a space designed for observation. Around the room were placed faintly glowing dragon pearls, not nearly as dazzling and eye-catching as the ones in the city’s underground.
“The light here is so gentle!”
Mu Xue immediately took a liking to the place as soon as she entered. Sang Chu explained, “Yeah, the dragon pearls here are all lower-grade ones I picked out, so the light isn’t that strong—just right for cultivation.”
After looking around, Xiu Ying nodded. “Mm, it feels really comfortable to be here.”
Sang Jingwen glanced around, feeling a bit perplexed. “What’s that on the ground?”
Following his finger, Xiu Ying looked over and was momentarily dazed. “Those… are those energy spheres for mental space?”
“Yeah. My aunt’s mental space used to have something similar, so I wondered if I could get an artificer to make some. I didn’t expect it would actually work. These energy spheres are about the size of a ball, with many hollows inside to store mental power. As long as your mental power can connect with them, all those little spheres on the ground can form a domain.”
After Sang Chu’s explanation, Xiu Ying looked at her in admiration. “You want to integrate the spatial domain into mental power cultivation?”
Sang Chu nodded. “I think it’s theoretically possible. Even though I don’t have spatial abilities, as long as I can use mental power to create a domain, then within that domain, it becomes a part of my cultivation.”
Yi Ping blinked at Sang Chu, itching to open up her head and see what was inside. “Sis, how do you even come up with these ideas? Is it really doable?”
“We’ll find out soon enough. Every ability isn’t just a single trick—they can branch out into all sorts of possibilities. As long as we have time, I want to try as many things as I can.”
Qin Si had already told her about the blood moon’s descent. If things were really as he said, and the blood moon’s fall marked a deadline, then they might not have much time left.
No one even knew if the blood moon would crash down in a single night or descend slowly. The timing was just too unpredictable!
Lu Minli said, “Then let’s do as Ah Chu says. What do we need to do?”
Sang Chu glanced at him, then turned to Xiu Ying. “Auntie, please use your mental power to pierce through the core of the small sphere, then lift all the spheres into the air and suspend them.”
Though she didn’t fully understand Sang Chu’s intentions, Xiu Ying did as asked. With her spatial ability, she could see the structure inside the spheres at a glance and control them with ease.
Besides, she was now a level-five mental power user. Even if her spatial ability was only at level one, it was more than enough for this.
In no time, Xiu Ying had successfully levitated the spheres.
Sang Chu turned to Mu Xue. “Xiao Xue, you’re a spatial ability user—your control over space is better than mine. You’ve also been training your mental power for a while. Try connecting your mental power to Auntie’s, as much as you can manage.”
Lin Mu Xue nodded. She stood to the side, activating her spatial ability and amplifying her sense of space. Fortunately, this room could block out the noise from outside, so for now, just being able to hear everyone’s steady heartbeats was already pretty good.
She focused on the rhythm of Xiu Ying’s heartbeat and used her special ability to try to connect their mental powers.
*Boom—*
Suddenly, Lin Mu Xue’s mental power was repelled, and she was thrown back several steps. Lu Minli, who was behind her, caught her in his arms and asked anxiously, “Are you okay?”
Mu Xue shook her head, her face pale. “I’m fine, just… it’s really hard. Auntie’s mental power is too strong. As soon as I get close, I feel like I’m about to be controlled by her. And now, all the spheres are filled with her mental power—if I force my way in, they’ll explode.”
At that moment, Xiu Ying was fully focused on controlling the spheres, and could only look at Mu Xue with concern. Seeing she was okay, she finally let out a sigh of relief. She had set up some safeguards, or Mu Xue might have been hurt just now.
Sang Chu said, “Minli, help Xiao Xue go rest for a bit. Brother, it’s your turn.”
Sang Jingwen was the only one among them who had been training his mental power all along. He nodded, walked to the side, and said, “Auntie, I’m ready. You don’t have to go easy on me—I want to see what I’m really capable of.”
Xiu Ying smiled approvingly. Yi Ping added, “Yeah, Ah Wen’s right. And when it’s my turn, Auntie, don’t go easy on me either. The only time you should hold back is when you’re fighting Orange. Otherwise, always go all out, or you’ll get beaten up by Orange later!”
Ever since that incident, Yi Ping had become much more serious about training. Before, he hadn’t really put his heart into mental power, but now he realized how terrifying it could be. He no longer thought fire abilities were the most powerful.
Xiu Ying nodded slightly. As soon as Sang Jingwen stood in front of her, he released his mental power. Unlike Mu Xue’s gentle touch, his mental power surged forward like a tidal wave, ramming straight into the sphere. But as soon as he encountered Xiu Ying’s mental power, everything was blocked, and his own power was forced back into his mind.
“Ah—!”
Sang Jingwen suddenly cried out, clutching his head and squatting down, a buzzing ringing in his ears. Blood began to trickle from his eyes, nose, and mouth.
“Ah Wen!”
Yi Ping rushed over to help him, but he still couldn’t let go of his head. Xiu Ying looked at him worriedly, while Sang Chu quickly pressed her hand to his forehead.
After a moment, he finally recovered a bit and gasped, “Damn, this is…”
Sang Chu explained, “This is the terrifying thing about combining spatial ability with a mental domain. If you can’t find the exact point to connect with Auntie’s mental power, and try to force your way through, you’ll be attacked by the mental power of the entire domain. In other words, when Auntie sets up this domain, unless you can break through all at once, even if there’s only one sphere left, you’ll still get hurt.”
After hearing Sang Chu’s explanation, a glimmer of admiration and awe flashed in Xiu Ying’s eyes. She had known the mental domain was powerful, but hadn’t expected it to be this formidable.
Yi Ping asked, “What about combining mental power with fire abilities?”
“It can take on any form.”
As she spoke, Sang Chu smiled mysteriously. She raised her hand, conjured a flame, and used her mental power to morph it into any shape she wanted.
A ball of fire instantly appeared in her palm. “Auntie, get ready. This time, don’t hold back.”
Xiu Ying didn’t dare to take it lightly. After mental power was added to the fire, its might was overwhelming. Just as she was on high alert, the flame instantly connected with her mental power, and in a flash, she lost control of ten spheres.
Lu Minli watched the scene in front of him, feeling a growing sense of helplessness.
The gap between him and Sang Chu was only getting wider.
Mu Xue saw the frustration in his eyes and quickly grabbed his hand. She liked Lu Minli, so she didn’t want the person she liked to be at odds with her best family, nor did she want everyone to drift apart as time went on."
