Chapter 62: The Demon Realm – The Small World
Picking Up Trash in Another World and Bringing It Back to the Apocalypse
[Didn’t you already prepare yourself to be tricked to death by him? I have five thousand demon pearls. Tomorrow, I’ll just go out and buy what we need.]
Sang Chu: [As if he wouldn’t scam you too.]
Tu You, sounding proud and a bit silly: [Don’t underestimate me! If you can be a half-demon, so can I!]
By now, they had arrived at the guesthouse that Granny had mentioned.
Sang Chu didn’t think Tu You could accomplish much, so she just followed a demon with a black dog’s head inside.
“Little girl, what are you here for?”
“I’m here to find Granny. She told me I could stay here.”
The old woman seemed a bit displeased, but still introduced herself:
“Alright, one demon pearl per night. Don’t go out at night, and make sure to lock the door to your room. Here’s the key. Pick any room you like.”
Sang Chu handed over a pearl and said, “Granny, the reason I’m not going out at night—is it because of that thing?”
“That’s right. The Sky Wolf demon becomes extremely vicious after dark. Even the demon lord can’t catch him. During the day, his powers are weak, so he hides and there’s no sign of him. But at night, he stirs up panic in the demon realm. Everyone’s afraid of falling victim to him. If you weren’t recommended by Granny, I wouldn’t have told you this. Don’t go out at night! If you run into the Sky Wolf demon, don’t blame me for not protecting you!”
Sang Chu: “Don’t worry, Granny. I won’t.”
At least, not until she got her hands on a weapon—she was very fond of her own life!
In the room—
Sang Chu followed Granny’s instructions and locked the door. She found the whole room enveloped in a faint, oily yellow light.
“Huh, I wonder if this barrier is actually useful?”
Tu You, hearing Sang Chu’s doubts, plopped down on the bed and said, “Don’t underestimate this barrier. It’s pretty powerful. No wonder Granny let you stay here—she must be quite capable herself.”
“Alright, if you say so.”
Suddenly, Sang Chu’s eyes lit up. She turned to Tu You: “You just said you could become a half-demon. Show me.”
Tu You rolled his eyes dramatically at her. “No!”
With that, he sprawled out on the bed: [You go contract the jade pendant and put everything inside. Tomorrow, after we go out, I’ll go buy what we need!]
Sang Chu lay down beside him, closed her eyes, and followed the mental technique Tu You had taught her, channeling her spiritual energy into the jade pendant.
After contracting with the jade pendant, Sang Chu finally realized—this space was enormous!
It was so vast and empty, but just the sheer size alone made Sang Chu feel it was worth every penny.
[Little bunny, why is there nothing inside?]
Tu You: [When the original owner died, the space was automatically cleared and restored to its original state. Didn’t you buy a lot of soil and seeds? You can put them in now.]
So that’s how it worked.
In other words, she could now put as much stuff inside as she wanted, without worrying?
[If I die, will everything I put in the jade pendant get cleared out too?]
Tu You: [Yeah, that’s to prevent outsiders from getting it.]
Sang Chu nodded—what a great feature!
She immediately used her spiritual power to pour the soil she got from Butterfly Valley inside. Soon, a patch of fertile land was ready.
Then Sang Chu planted the peach tree seeds from Tao Yao, tossed in a deep-water pearl, and used her power to speed up growth. In an instant, the little space was full of life.
Even butterflies and bees slowly began to hatch.
Tu You shared the view with Sang Chu, and seeing the vibrant life inside, couldn’t help but sigh: [This is really a great treasure for storing things!]
Sang Chu: [Little bunny, this jade pendant is from the Sky Market, right? Are there more? I want to buy more!]
Tu You shot her a look: [You think this is cabbage, just buy it whenever you want? This kind of treasure is rare and hard to come by. There aren’t any in the market right now. If you ever find one at a bargain, count yourself lucky!]
Awooo~~
A wolf’s howl suddenly echoed outside.
Sang Chu quickly got up and looked toward the window, only to see a gray blur slam into the window, then be bounced back by something.
Tu You: [Did the wolf demon target you?]
Awooo—
Another howl, this time the gray shadow seemed even more agitated.
Sharp claws struck the barrier again and again.
Crackling noises filled the air, and Sang Chu worried the thin barrier might not hold.
“Damn, this wolf demon really wants me dead.”
Tu You’s big ears twitched helplessly. “Who knows? Maybe he senses you have money, or maybe it’s the wood energy on you—he wants to eat you.”
“Will the barrier hold?”
Tu You: “If it couldn’t, Granny wouldn’t have let you stay here. She must have seen something in you.”
Sang Chu suddenly remembered Granny’s sharp, discerning gaze and nodded. “Guess I’m pretty lucky.”
Tu You looked at Sang Chu seriously: “...You really are...”
“Who dares trespass while I am here? Leave at once!”
Before Tu You could finish, a deep, echoing voice boomed out, scolding the intruder with a casual authority.
Startled, Tu You was so shocked he jumped straight into Sang Chu’s arms, his big ears drooping. “That voice, it’s deafening!”
Sang Chu nodded—yeah, the echo was intense!
This guesthouse was something else!
Wasn’t it said that even the demon lord couldn’t handle the wolf demon? Yet this little guesthouse could scare him off with just a shout?
At this moment, Sang Chu had only one thought: could she become this person’s disciple?
She could stay here for a year. Even if she couldn’t travel directly to other realms, there was still a chance.
A whole year—she could at least learn some skills!
That night, Sang Chu wished time would fly to the next day so she could go ask Granny about apprenticeship.
Outside, after sensing the power of the Moon Hound, the wolf demon really did disappear.
When the sun rose, Sang Chu finally opened the door and stepped out.
Unexpectedly, the Moon Hound was standing right at the entrance.
He was still in his half-human, half-demon form, his black dog’s head making him look nothing like a typical master.
Sang Chu cupped her fists and said, “Thank you, Senior, for saving me last night.”
The Moon Hound looked Sang Chu up and down, puzzled. “How did a half-human, half-demon brat like you attract the wolf demon’s attention?”
Sang Chu had thought about it all night and decided to take out the spirit stone jade she had. If things went south, she’d just buy a ticket to another world.
Tu You had already gone to the Sky Market to refund the room.
“I thought about it last night. I think it was this item that attracted him.”
Sang Chu took out the spirit stone jade, just some fragments. The Moon Hound glanced at her. “You’re showing me your valuables, aren’t you afraid I’ll just take them?”
“If you hadn’t saved me last night, I’d have been eaten by the wolf demon already. I value my life, so I want to use these stones to ask you for a favor.”
The Moon Hound looked at her curiously. “What is it?”
Putting on her most sincere expression, Sang Chu knelt down and offered the spirit stone jade with both hands. “I want to become your disciple, to follow you and cultivate. These are my offerings. Please accept me, Master!”
“Hahaha...” The Moon Hound burst out laughing. “Little brat, do you even know what you’re asking?”"
