Chapter 61: The Demon Realm – I | West 4

Picking Up Trash in Another World and Bringing It Back to the Apocalypse

Fox Sui squatted down in front of Granny’s stall with a grin: “Granny, today I’m helping out at your stall. Little sister, take a look and see what you want. Don’t underestimate Granny’s wares—these are all top-quality goods!”

Granny’s sharp eyes swept over Sang Chu, making her feel a bit uneasy, as if under that gaze, her own disguise was worthless.

Sang Chu’s palms were sweating, afraid she’d be found out as a non-demon among demons. But Granny just smiled kindly at her: “Little one, what do you want?”

Sang Chu replied, “Granny, I’d like something that can give off light.”

“Then you’ve come to the right place.”

As she spoke, Granny took out a large tray filled with all sorts of luminous pearls, each about the size of a palm, each one glowing with a soft light.

“These are pearls—more precisely, these are demon pearls. When a pearl demon fails their tribulation and dies, their demon core becomes a luminous pearl. For daily use, it’s best to soak them in spring water to extend their lifespan. Otherwise, once the demon power is depleted, the pearl will lose its light and won’t work as a lamp anymore.”

Demon core?

Sang Chu looked at Granny in confusion. “Granny, what’s the difference between a demon core and a demon pearl?”

“There’s not much difference. It’s just that the pearl demon’s core is weak and not very valuable. The best demon pearls come from the eagle and wolf clans. My sea clan’s demon cores are just average demon pearls, nothing special.”

There’s a ranking system?

Sang Chu nodded. “Granny, how do you sell these?”

“How many pearls do you want?”

Sang Chu did a quick calculation. “Granny, are these pearls fresh? If they’re not, I’ll take twenty; if they are, I’ll need a few less.”

“They’re not fresh. I have thirty in total—take as many as you want. Just give me one demon pearl in exchange. But for human pearls, they’re rarer—one human pearl is worth three demon pearls.”

Granny put all the pearls into a small water droplet, making Sang Chu’s eyes widen. This water droplet works like a storage pouch?

Afterward, Granny took out three dazzling human pearls from a big tray. “These three are ten-year-old human pearls. They’re not great for cultivation, but they’re perfect for lighting, just as you wanted. If you don’t mind them being old, I’ll give them all to you.”

“I don’t mind at all, thank you, Granny!”

“No need to thank me, I’ll pack them all up for you. And here’s some water grass as a gift. When you get home, set up a small spring, plant the water grass, and keep the pearls and human pearls soaking together. Take them out when you need them, but always put them back in the spring afterward, or they won’t last long.”

Sang Chu nodded obediently. “Okay, I understand.”

“Granny, what are those things over there?”

Sang Chu pointed at another strange big tray. When Granny had opened it to take out the water droplet, Sang Chu had caught a glimpse—it looked like weapons?

Granny smiled and opened the big box: “These are all items salvaged from the deep sea.”

Fox Sui took one look and said, “Don’t bother, little sister. Those are all junk. If you really want a weapon, give me all your demon pearls, and I promise I’ll find you something that suits you!”

Granny glanced at Sang Chu. “Little one, do you want a weapon?”

“Mm.”

Sang Chu nodded seriously. Granny looked at the pile of broken items. “These are all deep-sea junk. I was planning to take them to Tianfu to sell—someone there will buy them. If you want a weapon, Fox Sui can really help you. As for these, forget it.”

But Sang Chu’s eyes were glued to the so-called deep-sea junk. “Granny, since you’re going to sell them anyway, why not just sell them to me?”

Fox Sui: “What? Are you crazy? What do you want this junk for?”

Granny: “Child, these really are all broken. They might have once been divine weapons, but broken is broken.”

Sang Chu: “Brother Fox, Granny, I know you’re both being kind, but I really like these things. Just sell them to me.”

Granny hesitated for a moment. “Well, alright then, just give me one demon pearl for the lot.”

“Thank you, Granny!”

Granny felt she was giving Sang Chu a huge bargain and handed over the whole box of junk. But then she realized her storage pouch was full—she couldn’t fit anything else in.

Seeing Sang Chu’s troubled expression, Granny asked kindly, “Child, what’s wrong? If you don’t want them, I can give your demon pearl back.”

Sang Chu said, “It’s not that, Granny. I do want them, I just don’t have any space left to store things…”

She’d thought her storage pouch was big enough, but after putting in all the soil and other stuff, it was now full to bursting.

Fox Sui laughed, “This little girl is funny. There’s a stall ahead selling storage rings—why not just buy one?”

“Storage ring?”

Granny said, “No need, no need. Granny will help you out!”

With that, she conjured another droplet of water, did a bit of manipulation, and turned it into a storage artifact!

Sang Chu watched in awe as Granny created a storage treasure out of thin air!

Fox Sui said, “Alright, little sister, what else do you want to buy?”

Sang Chu shook her head. Right now, she just wanted to find a place to stay and study the jade slip the little rabbit had given her.

She handed all her remaining four thousand demon pearls to Fox Sui. “Brother Fox, is this enough?”

“I’ll take four thousand, and you can use the rest to pay for lodging. Go get some rest, and tomorrow I’ll get you your weapon!”

Sang Chu nodded, and Fox Sui turned and left.

Granny said to Sang Chu, “It’s your first time at the market, isn’t it? If you need a place to stay, head down the main street and look for the black moon dog-head banner. Go in and say you want a room. The owner is an old nine-tailed moon dog—good prices and safe, much better than the inns outside.”

Sang Chu smiled. “Thank you, Granny. I’ll go now.”

Granny waved her off. “Go on, then.”

After saying goodbye, Sang Chu walked toward the place Granny had mentioned, her mind still on Granny’s gaze: [Little Rabbit, did you notice the way Granny and Fox Sui looked at me? Wasn’t it a bit strange? Did they see through my disguise?]

Rabbit You replied nonchalantly: [Of course. They’re all ancient beings. Your disguise definitely won’t fool them, but they don’t know you’re human—at most, they’ll think you’re some kind of half-demon. As long as they’re willing to help, it’s fine.]

Half-demon?

Sang Chu rolled her eyes at Rabbit You. That word might not mean much here, but it still stings to hear it!

[Forget it. As long as I can survive, that’s what matters. Do you think Fox Sui can really get me a weapon?]"
