Chapter 136: Chapter 136: Gu Mo’s Stones

Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure

While Yu Nuannuan was at home eating steamed egg custard, Gu Mo was outside in the yard, playing with stones under a tree.

Qin Yuelan was cooking in the makeshift kitchen under the thatched shed. Every now and then, she’d glance at Gu Mo. Seeing that he was playing happily, she’d lower her head and get back to her work.

Gu Mo sat on a small stool, hunched over, his little hands rummaging through a pile of stones on the ground. As his hands moved, the stones of all shapes and sizes shifted along with him, their colors and shapes slowly changing.

Ever since Gu Mo learned to walk, he always seemed to have all sorts of little stones in his hands. Qin Yuelan had seen it so many times that she was used to it by now. Although she didn’t know where Gu Mo found all these stones, she didn’t think much of it.

After all, there were mountains and rivers nearby, with plenty of stones along the riverbanks and hillsides. The village kids often brought stones back from the mountains or rivers, so Gu Mo probably just picked up ones they’d thrown away.

Now that they lived right at the foot of the mountain, there were even more pebbles around. Gu Mo picking up a few to play with didn’t seem strange to Qin Yuelan at all.

Gu Jianguo had said that morning that he wouldn’t be home for lunch, so Qin Yuelan only cooked for herself and Gu Mo. With just the two of them, the meal was simple and quick to prepare.

Once the food was ready, Qin Yuelan called Gu Mo to eat. “Dai Bao, stop playing and come eat.”

Gu Mo answered, picked up a stone from the pile, and walked into the house.

When Qin Yuelan turned around and saw him coming in, she smiled and said, “Dai Bao, did you wash your hands? Let’s wash up before we eat, okay?”

Gu Mo held out the stone in his hand to her. “Mom, this is for you.”

“What’s this?” Qin Yuelan asked with a smile, reaching out to take what Gu Mo was handing her.

But as soon as she had it in her hand, Qin Yuelan was stunned. “Where did this stone come from?”

She’d only glanced at the stones Gu Mo was playing with while cooking and hadn’t noticed anything unusual. Now that she was holding it, she realized something was different.

The stone in her hand looked just like a little dog! It was milky white, cool and smooth to the touch, even softer than tender tofu. The little dog was so lifelike that she could clearly see its nose, eyes, and mouth.

Was this really just a stone Gu Mo had picked up?

“Dai Bao, where did you get this stone?” she asked.

Gu Mo pointed outside. “Picked it up. There’s more. Lots.”

As he spoke, Gu Mo turned and walked out. Qin Yuelan quickly followed.

Mother and son walked one after the other to the tree where Gu Mo had been playing. Sure enough, there was a small pile of stones there.

Some of them looked like ordinary stones, but many were just like the one in Qin Yuelan’s hand—shaped like little animals.

Qin Yuelan picked up these animal-shaped stones and examined them one by one. Each was vivid and lifelike, incredibly interesting.

“This…” Qin Yuelan was at a loss for words.

These stones looked like they could be worth a lot!

Just as she was thinking this, she heard Gu Mo say seriously, “Sell them. They’re worth money!”

Hearing this, Qin Yuelan suddenly felt a pang in her heart, and all her earlier doubts vanished.

Gu Mo was not even two years old yet. How could such a young child know what money was? Yet not only did he know, he even understood that selling things could make money.

It was all because she hadn’t been capable enough—Gu Mo had learned to be sensible so early!"
