Chapter 139: Chapter 139: The Antique Street
Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure
Hearing what Gu Jianguo said, Yu Hai’s interest was instantly piqued. “Jianguo, you’re going to the county town to…”
He had just gotten halfway through his sentence when someone smacked him on the head.
Yu Hai frowned and turned around. When he saw it was Xu Shuhua, his unhappy expression vanished in an instant, replaced by a honey-sweet smile. “Mom! What’s up? If you need anything, just say it!”
Xu Shuhua shot Yu Hai an exasperated look. “Talk, talk, talk! You just love to talk, don’t you? Do you have to be so loud?”
As she finished speaking, Xu Shuhua glanced toward the neighboring house.
Seeing her look, Yu Hai immediately understood what she meant.
Xu Shuhua was worried that the Gu family next door might overhear their conversation!
“Mom, you really think of everything!” Yu Hai gave Xu Shuhua a thumbs up, lowering his voice as well.
Xu Shuhua raised her eyebrows in satisfaction, looking quite pleased with herself, though she said, “Alright, let’s get down to business. Jianguo, what are you planning to sell? That spot where we used to set up our stall is pretty good—lots of foot traffic. Tell us what you’re selling, or maybe just set up there.”
Gu Jianguo smiled sheepishly. “I’m planning to sell stones.”
“What?”
No matter how capable Xu Shuhua was, she was caught off guard by Gu Jianguo’s words. “You want to sell stones?”
Xu Shuhua looked at Gu Jianguo with suspicion, even wondering if he’d been driven a bit silly by all the recent events. Otherwise, why would he suddenly want to sell stones?
Yu Hai didn’t say anything, but his expression was almost identical to Xu Shuhua’s.
Seeing this, Gu Jianguo hurried to explain, “Not just any random stones I picked up—these are some interesting ones.”
As he spoke, Gu Jianguo took two little stone dogs out of his pocket.
Seeing the lifelike stone figures, both Xu Shuhua and Yu Hai were intrigued. “Hey, these are actually pretty neat. Jianguo, where did you get them?”
Yu Hai had barely finished asking when Xu Shuhua smacked him on the head again.
“What are you asking for!”
Xu Shuhua looked at Yu Hai with some annoyance. Wasn’t he usually pretty sharp? How come his brain wasn’t working now?
No matter how close two families are, there are some things you can ask and some things you can’t.
Asking where someone’s goods come from—was that something you should ask?
Yu Hai rubbed his head. He’d just blurted it out, not on purpose.
Even though he thought this way, he didn’t dare argue at all.
“Jianguo,” Xu Shuhua turned to Gu Jianguo, “these things are quite interesting. How much are you planning to sell them for?”
Gu Jianguo really had no idea—he’d never done business before—so he humbly asked Xu Shuhua for advice. “Auntie, why don’t you give me some suggestions?”
Being asked for advice made Xu Shuhua feel extremely proud, and her smile grew even brighter.
Xu Shuhua thought seriously for a moment, then turned to Yu Hai. “Old Fourth, I remember there’s an ‘Antique Street’ in our county town, isn’t there?”
She’d heard about it from some old folks who came to buy fruit, saying it had just sprung up this year.
Of course, Xu Shuhua had only heard about it—she’d never been herself.
Yu Hai nodded. “I’ve heard of it too. I think they sell all sorts of old things over there. Some people even bring their rice bowls or jars for pickling vegetables from home to sell, and they fetch a good price! Mom, are you saying we could sell these there too?”"
