Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Going to Play in the Water

Reborn in the 1980s Becoming the Group's Darling Little Lucky Treasure

The more anxious she was, the harder it was to get the words out.

Yu Nuannuan’s little face turned red from holding it in, and finally she managed to say just one word, “Go!”

Xu Shuhua looked at Yu Nuannuan, a little uncertain. “Nuannuan, do you want to go?”

Yu Nuannuan’s eyes instantly lit up. “Go! Go! Go!”

Sure enough, no one understands her better than Xu Shuhua!

Seeing how happy Yu Nuannuan was, Xu Shuhua laughed too. “Alright, let’s all go together! Let Nuannuan see how your dad catches fish.”

After lunch and a nap, they waited until three or four in the afternoon, when it wasn’t so hot, before the whole Yu family headed out.

Xu Shuhua’s original plan was for Yu Hai to take Yu Wei, and she would carry Yu Nuannuan, bringing just one wooden bucket.

But since Yu Wei wanted to go, and Yu Nuannuan wanted to go, the other five kids wanted to go too.

Xu Shuhua had to carry Yu Nuannuan, so she couldn’t look after the others.

In the end, she simply called Yu Hu, Yu He, and Yu Jiang to come along as well.

After all, their sons should be looked after by their own fathers.

So from four people, their group grew to twelve—a real crowd.

As they walked through the village, they attracted quite a few stares.

At first, the villagers thought Xu Shuhua must have found something valuable in the mountains again.

But when they found out they were just going to catch fish, and saw them heading toward the river, they lost interest.

There was a river here—a moat, actually.

There were fish in it, but they stayed in the deeper parts.

In the shallow areas by the bank, there weren’t any big fish, just some finger-length fry.

But those were hard to catch, and even if you did, they weren’t worth eating—not even worth the trouble.

Only the village kids loved this game of catching fish; adults rarely bothered to bring buckets for it.

There were professional fishermen in Sanliqiao, but they rowed little boats to the middle of the river and cast nets—totally different.

The Yu family arrived at the riverbank, took off their shoes, and rolled up their pants, getting ready to wade in.

It was August, and at three or four in the afternoon, the river water was a little cool, but not at all icy—in fact, it felt wonderfully refreshing.

Yu Hai and his three brothers kept a close eye on the kids. Whether they caught any fish didn’t matter, but the kids’ safety was the real concern.

Xu Shuhua sat down on a rock a few meters from the water, holding Yu Nuannuan in her arms.

Yu Nuannuan gazed longingly at the adults and children playing in the water. How nice it would be to play in the water! She wanted to join in too!

Even just touching it would be nice!

Thinking this, Yu Nuannuan lifted her arm and pointed at the river. “Go!”

Xu Shuhua was startled. “Nuannuan, you can’t go! It’s dangerous!”

Yu Nuannuan insisted, “Go!”

She looked right into Xu Shuhua’s eyes, as if to say, If you don’t let me go, I’ll cry.

Xu Shuhua and Yu Nuannuan stared at each other, but in the end, Xu Shuhua gave in.

“Alright, we’ll go!”

Xu Shuhua carried Nuannuan to a quieter spot, away from Yu Hai and the others, so the splashing wouldn’t get Nuannuan wet.

She squatted down by the water, holding Yu Nuannuan’s hand to let her touch the water. “Let’s let Nuannuan feel it too—”

Yu Nuannuan put her little hand in the water and found it was cool and pleasant. On this hot afternoon, it felt especially nice.

She swished her hand in the water a few times, and suddenly spotted a clump of green grass.

Is that waterweed?

As she wondered, her hand reached out and touched the leaves of the waterweed.

The moment her hand made contact, the small clump of waterweed instantly grew, turning into a lush patch floating on the water’s surface.
