Chapter 125: Which Family Are You With?

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

Fu Mingxue arrived at the research institute.

Old Ji led her to a private office.

“Comrade Fu Mingxue, you can do your drawings here. Also, here’s a meal card. Just go to the cafeteria when it’s time to eat—someone will take you there and show you your dormitory as well.”

“Alright.” Fu Mingxue nodded and accepted the special meal card from the institute.

“If you need anything, just come next door and find me.”

“Okay.”

Once Old Ji left, Fu Mingxue took a look around the office.

There was a large work desk, more than enough space for her to draw blueprints.

Paper was already set out for her.

The drawing tools were all there, too.

Seeing that everything she needed was provided, Fu Mingxue didn’t waste any time.

The door was closed, and no one came to disturb her.

In fact, apart from a few senior members, no one else at the institute even knew Fu Mingxue was there.

At noon, someone knocked on the studio door.

Hearing the sound, Fu Mingxue looked up from her drawings.

She rubbed her sore neck and checked the time—surprised to see it was already five o’clock.

How did time pass so quickly?

She went to open the door.

Standing outside was a young man.

“Hello, Comrade Fu. Old Ji asked me to take you to dinner and show you your dormitory.”

Fu Mingxue nodded. “Okay! Give me a moment.”

She grabbed the bundle she’d brought with her.

“This is my luggage. Do you need to check it?”

Hearing this, the young man quickly replied, “No need!”

“Alright, then let’s go to the dorm first, then the cafeteria. Just tell me where the cafeteria is—I can find my way there later.”

“Sure.”

The two of them left the institute; the cafeteria was on the other side, but the dormitory wasn’t far from it.

“Comrade Fu, that’s the cafeteria over there. Just show your meal card to the staff. I’ll take you to your room first.”

“Okay.”

Fu Mingxue followed him to the dormitory building.

It was a fairly new, three-story block.

She was led to a room on the second floor.

The young man handed her the key. “Comrade Fu, this is your room. If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going.”

Fu Mingxue took the key. “Alright, thank you!”

“You’re welcome.”

With that, the young man left.

Just as Fu Mingxue was about to unlock her door, the neighbor next door came out and looked at her curiously.

“Are you new here?”

Fu Mingxue shook her head. “I’m just staying for a few days.”

She didn’t say more, just opened the door and went in.

The woman next door was full of curiosity—Which family is this girl with? Who at the institute just got married?

Fu Mingxue looked around. It was a two-bedroom unit with a small living area.

There was no bathroom inside; it was probably outside.

The bed wasn’t made, but there was a new quilt on top, likely just brought over.

That was good—she’d forgotten to bring bedding.

The place was simple, nothing much to see.

After putting down her bundle, she locked the door and went to the cafeteria for dinner.

There weren’t many people eating in the cafeteria.

Fu Mingxue went to the serving window and handed over her meal card. “Hello, could I get two taels of rice, some potatoes, and some spicy pickled cabbage?”

The woman serving food looked at her curiously. “Miss, I haven’t seen you before. Are you a new family member? Whose family?”

Fu Mingxue replied, “Auntie, I’m not anyone’s family. I’m here on my own. Just remember my name—Fu Mingxue.”
