Chapter 145: Someone from the Unit Comes

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

“You bought this much?” Mother Fu’s heart ached again.

When they were shopping earlier, she kept feeling like the house was missing this and that.

But now, seeing all these things, she wished she could return them all.

“Mom, don’t worry about it. Hold the kids, and I’ll load everything up.”

“Alright.” Mother Fu carried one child on her back and held the other in her arms.

Fu Mingxue quickly hung all the shopping bags onto the handlebars of her bicycle.

“Are you sure you can manage this? Is it safe to ride? Maybe I should just walk home instead,” Mother Fu said, thinking walking would be safer.

“Mom, there’s no need to walk. I can ride. Let’s check out the market one more time—”

Mother Fu cut her off. “What’s there to see? Let’s go home. All this will last us a long time. If we need anything else, we can come back to town. It’s not like we won’t be living our lives.”

Besides, they had just arrived, and buying so much at once might make others jealous.

Just the things Comrade Xiao Yang brought yesterday already made people envious. If they kept buying more, who knows what people would think?

It might even affect her son-in-law.

“Come on, let’s hurry home.”

Seeing her mother so insistent, Fu Mingxue had no choice but to agree.

“Alright.”

She swung her leg over the bike and steadied herself with one foot on the ground.

“Mom, get on and sit tight.” With one child on her back and one in her arms, it definitely wouldn’t be easy for her mother to get on.

Mother Fu was still a bit nervous, but she carefully got on and sat down.

Once Fu Mingxue saw her mother was settled, she pushed off and started riding.

Walking would take about an hour, but riding the bike would only take about half an hour.

However, considering her mother, the two kids, and all the stuff, Fu Mingxue rode more slowly.

By the time they got back to the compound, it had been about forty minutes.

“Huh, who’s that? Why are they standing at our door?” Mother Fu’s sharp eyes spotted someone first.

Fu Mingxue saw too—after all, besides the man, there was also a small car parked outside, which was quite eye-catching.

She stopped her bicycle at the door, resting one foot on the ground. “Mom, you get off first.”

Mother Fu hurried to get off.

The moment her feet touched the ground, she let out a sigh of relief.

They were finally home. The whole way, she’d been on edge.

She swore she’d never buy so much stuff again.

No, she’d never go out with her daughter again.

“Comrade, who are you looking for?” Mother Fu asked the young man.

The young man looked at Fu Mingxue. “Excuse me, are you Comrade Fu Mingxue?”

Fu Mingxue nodded. “Yes, that’s me.”

The young man let out a sigh of relief. “Hello, Comrade Fu Mingxue. I’m Xiao Li from the engine factory. I’m here to take you to the factory. Are you able to come now?”

Fu Mingxue had already guessed who he was when she saw him.

Now that he’d explained, she nodded. “Yes, but could you wait a few minutes?”

Xiao Li nodded right away. “No problem.”

He was quite observant—seeing the bike loaded with so much, he stepped forward to help.

“Comrade Fu, let me push it.”

Since he’d taken over the bicycle, Fu Mingxue stepped aside. “Thank you!”

She helped lift the back of the bike.

Once they were inside the yard, she took the child from her mother’s arms.

Mother Fu untied the one on her back herself, then took the children into their room.

When she came back out, she quickly took the other child from Fu Mingxue.

“Daughter, since your unit needs you, you’d better go quickly.”"
