Chapter 146: We Want to Work Too

Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier

Fu Mingxue nodded. “Alright, Mom, you just stay home and look after the child. Don’t wait for me for dinner—I’m not sure when I’ll be back. If I don’t come home, it means I’m working overtime at the office.”

Mother Fu was a bit taken aback when she heard this. “You have to work overtime already? On your first day?”

Is her daughter’s workplace really that busy? Or is her daughter that important?

Fu Mingxue replied, “It’s not for sure. I just mean, if I’m late, don’t worry about me.”

“Okay. Then you’d better get going—don’t keep people waiting.”

Fu Mingxue went back to her room first and took out her green shoulder bag from her space, so it would be easier to get things when she needed them. Then she headed out.

She said to Xiao Li, “Let’s go!”

Only after Fu Mingxue got in the car did Xiao Li drive away.

The sight of Fu Mingxue getting into a strange man’s car made the other residents of the family compound very curious.

Who was that man? Why was Qin Wenhuo’s wife getting into his car?

Just then, Aunt Hao from next door also saw Fu Mingxue leave in a man’s car. She spat disdainfully.

“Shameless—” she muttered. Her own husband wasn’t at home, and yet she just casually got into another man’s car. What a vixen.

Wait a minute, isn’t this a matter of improper conduct? Maybe she could report her?

Her eyes lit up at the idea. She quickly left the house.

Not long after, she arrived at an office.

“Leader, I want to report my neighbor for improper conduct. While her husband was away, she got into another man’s car. Her husband’s name is something like Qin Wenhuo.”

Instructor Xie was surprised by her words. “Who are you trying to report?”

Aunt Hao quickly said, “My neighbor, Qin Wenhuo’s wife. She left with some strange man in his car. This is a serious conduct issue, leader. You should go arrest her.”

Instructor Xie finally understood who she was talking about.

“Auntie, is your son Hao Rong?”

Aunt Hao immediately replied, “Leader, this has nothing to do with my son. I just can’t stand to see it. How can a woman just go off with another man like that? And in a car, no less! She’s clearly being unfaithful.”

Instructor Xie’s expression turned serious. “Aunt Hao, please watch your words. Besides, you don’t even know the truth of the matter—how can you just accuse someone of improper conduct? That’s not acceptable.”

Aunt Hao couldn’t believe it. “Leader, why are you covering for her?”

Instructor Xie’s face darkened. “Aunt Hao, this isn’t about covering for anyone. Comrade Fu was going to work. That man was sent by her workplace to pick her up. So please don’t spread rumors. Otherwise, I’ll have to call Hao Rong over.”

Aunt Hao’s face changed dramatically. “She was going to work? Didn’t she just arrive? How does she already have a job?”

Aunt Hao had already asked her son last night—those two women had just arrived as military dependents, just like her and her daughter-in-law.

Instructor Xie, of course, wasn’t going to explain any further.

“That’s not something I can discuss with you. If there’s nothing else, you should go home. If anything comes up, I’ll call for Hao Rong.”

“Leader, this isn’t fair. How come she gets a job as soon as she arrives? We came together—if you arranged a job for her, then my daughter-in-law should get one too. You can’t play favorites.”

Instructor Xie had a headache. Why was Hao Rong’s mother so difficult?

“Aunt Hao, Comrade Fu found her job herself. It was a job transfer, not something we arranged. So it has nothing to do with us.”"
