Chapter 165: Is His Wife Avoiding Him?
Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier
Fu Mingxue still went and got a bowl to split the food.
She thought that washing an extra bowl and pair of chopsticks was better than making someone eat leftovers.
Qin Wenhuo glanced at her but didn’t say anything more.
After they finished eating dumplings, Qin Wenhuo took the initiative to clear the dishes. “Wife, you go back to the room. I’ll handle this.”
Fu Mingxue nodded.
But before going back to the room, she brushed her teeth again.
She’d wasted two hours last night.
Tonight, she definitely had to make up for it.
So, she took out a book from her space and started reading as quickly as she could.
When Qin Wenhuo came into the room, the first thing he saw was his wife reading a book.
It was a very thick book.
He walked over to take a look and found that the content was really deep—at least, he couldn’t understand it. There were all sorts of complicated formulas and diagrams.
But he could recognize some of the diagrams; they seemed to be of an engine’s internal structure!
After just a minute, he started to feel dizzy.
Qin Wenhuo figured maybe reading just wasn’t for him, which was why he felt dizzy.
He had no idea that this book was set up by the system.
Fu Mingxue could only read it for two hours for free; every second beyond that would start to cost her.
The fact that he could last a minute was already his limit.
Two hours passed quickly for Fu Mingxue.
But for Qin Wenhuo, lying in bed, it felt like forever.
He’d thought his wife would read for maybe half an hour at most.
He didn’t expect to be waiting for four and a half hours.
He checked his watch—it was already almost one in the morning. Was his wife trying to avoid him?
Just as he was about to say something and tell her to go to sleep, Fu Mingxue finished reading.
Because her free time was up.
She didn’t put the book back into her space right away, but locked it in a drawer first, then used the drawer as cover to return it to her space.
When she turned around and saw Qin Wenhuo still awake and looking at her, she realized how right she’d been to be cautious.
“Why are you still awake?”
Qin Wenhuo asked, “You work so late during the day, and now you’re staying up late reading. Will you be okay tomorrow?”
“I was reading something light, of course I’ll be fine.” Fu Mingxue walked over and naturally lay down.
Qin Wenhuo pulled her into his arms.
Sensing her sudden stiffness, he said, “Don’t worry, I won’t touch you tonight.”
Fu Mingxue: ?...
“Go to sleep. If you don’t, you won’t be able to get up tomorrow.” With that, Qin Wenhuo reached out and turned off the light.
Feeling his slightly high body temperature, Fu Mingxue didn’t dare move at all.
She thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep being held like this, but to her surprise, she drifted off quickly.
In the darkness, Qin Wenhuo listened to her gentle breathing, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly before he closed his eyes as well.
The next morning.
Maybe because she’d gone to bed late, Fu Mingxue woke up to find it was already almost seven o’clock.
She hurriedly got up and dressed.
When she went out, her mother was feeding the two little ones breakfast.
“You’re up? Go wash your face and brush your teeth, then come eat. We’re having porridge and meat buns this morning.”
Fu Mingxue didn’t even have time to greet the kids; she went to wash up first.
Then she ate breakfast.
That’s when she realized Qin Wenhuo wasn’t there.
“Mom, where did Qin Wenhuo go? Did he go to town?”
“No, he went out earlier. Probably had something to do.”
Fu Mingxue was just asking casually.
When she finished eating and was about to leave on her bike, Qin Wenhuo came back.
“I’ll take you to work today, and I’ll pick you up after work too.”
Hearing this, Fu Mingxue looked at him. “You have that much free time?”"
