Chapter 166: Are You That Interested in My Life?
Reborn in the Eighties: Remarrying a Soldier
Before Qin Wenhuo could say anything, Mother Fu’s exasperated voice rang out first. “What kind of way is that to talk? Your husband is just worried about your safety going to and from work!”
Fu Mingxue was a bit speechless.
This is the military compound, and her workplace was nearby. What safety issues could there possibly be?
Just then, Qin Wenhuo spoke up. “I’m on leave for the next few days and have some free time. Once I get assigned to a mission, I won’t be this available.”
He glanced at his watch. “It’s almost time for you to head to work. Let’s go, I’ll drive today.”
Hearing that he’d drive, Fu Mingxue didn’t argue any further.
She walked out and got into the car.
Qin Wenhuo went to the driver’s seat.
Once he saw she was settled, he stepped on the gas and drove off.
“You’re still getting off work at ten tonight?” he asked.
Fu Mingxue shook her head. “Nine, I think. I need to read for two hours every night—if I get home too late, there’s not enough time.”
She couldn’t possibly go to bed at one in the morning every night.
Even a young body couldn’t handle that for long!
When Qin Wenhuo heard that she read for two hours every night, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
So—she wasn’t trying to avoid him last night after all?
The thought made him inexplicably happy.
Fu Mingxue noticed the shift in his mood. “What are you so happy about?”
Qin Wenhuo chuckled. “I thought you were reading so late last night just to avoid me.”
Fu Mingxue’s eyes widened. “Why would you think that? And besides, why would I avoid you?”
Qin Wenhuo turned his head to look at her, his eyes especially bright.
Fu Mingxue: …?
That intense gaze made her think of something, and her face suddenly grew warm.
“—Just focus on driving.”
Seeing her embarrassed and annoyed expression, Qin Wenhuo found her unbearably cute.
That fluttering, heart-thumping feeling hit him out of nowhere.
One hand on the steering wheel, his other hand suddenly reached out and grabbed hers—
Fu Mingxue was startled.
She hadn’t expected him to be so bold.
She immediately tried to pull her hand back.
Unfortunately, Qin Wenhuo held on tight—there was no way to get free.
Fu Mingxue glared at him. “Let go and keep your hands on the wheel!”
“Don’t worry, I’m a good driver,” Qin Wenhuo replied.
He didn’t let go.
He held her hand all the way to the factory gate.
“We’re here, I’m getting out,” Fu Mingxue said, quickly exiting the car.
The cold wind outside cooled her flushed face almost instantly.
Qin Wenhuo called out to her from the car, “I’ll pick you up tonight.”
Then he drove off.
Fu Mingxue was about to head into the factory when a voice suddenly called out, “Team Leader Fu, was that your husband who dropped you off?”
Fu Mingxue turned and saw Xu Ming.
She frowned slightly. “Why, are you that interested in my personal life?”
Xu Ming hadn’t expected her to be so blunt.
He quickly shook his head. “Sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just curious, since I happened to see.”
“If you weren’t, then don’t ask. Just focus on your work.”
With that, Fu Mingxue walked into the factory.
Xu Ming: …?
Why did it feel like Team Leader Fu was hostile toward him?
He hadn’t done anything, had he?
What they didn’t know was that Qin Wenhuo had seen the whole exchange through the rearview mirror.
He only looked away after the two of them went inside—
He drove into town, stopped by the supply and marketing cooperative to buy a few things, then went to the meat shop at the meat processing plant to buy some meat.
Just as he was about to head to the post office to pick up a package, a voice suddenly called out, “Captain Qin!”"
