Chapter 159: I’m Very Capable
Natural Disasters and the End of the World, She Went Crazy After Stocking Up on Supplies
Very quickly, he found an ID card on the man.
It read: Yang Ruifeng, Building 18.
So he lived in Villa 18.
But unlike Annan’s card, which listed both the building and the floor, this card only had the building number. It seemed this person had an entire villa to himself.
Makes sense—gun-making was such a secretive job, there’s no way they’d assign him any neighbors.
Yang Ruifeng’s face was completely unfamiliar. Annan didn’t recall ever seeing him at any previous events. He must have kept to himself, only responsible for making guns.
Annan decided to check out his villa to see if there were any more guns.
Meanwhile, the terrified dancer had barely made it out of the yard before collapsing on the road.
She was so scared her legs gave out. She sat by the roadside, trying to catch her breath, when suddenly she heard a sound behind her.
She instinctively turned around and saw that terrifying pale-faced woman dragging something, slowly making her way over.
She immediately started trembling all over.
She watched in horror as the woman got closer and closer, and only then did she notice that what the woman was dragging was actually a corpse.
“Ah!! Ah!!!”
She squeezed her eyes shut and screamed again, her heart pounding wildly in her chest.
But then, suddenly, a cool, clear voice sounded in her ear:
“Keep screaming, and I’ll eat you.”
She opened her eyes to find the pale-faced woman bending down, whispering right by her ear.
She was so scared she almost screamed again, but this time she forced herself to hold it in, not daring to make another sound.
Annan looked down at the pitiful little beauty and, for some reason, found it a bit funny.
“What’s your name?” she asked.
The dancer replied in a trembling voice, “Xu—Xu Xi.”
“How old are you?”
“Sev—seventeen.”
“Why did you come back to the banquet?”
Xu Xi shrank back and replied, “My mom’s necklace… I dropped it…”
Annan looked at her. Though she was painfully thin, her face still had a bit of baby fat, making her features look very young.
Still just a kid.
Annan rummaged through Yang Ruifeng’s body and pulled out a necklace. “Is this it?”
Earlier, when she’d crouched down to search for the card, she’d found the necklace on the ground nearby and had stuffed it into Yang Ruifeng’s pocket.
The girl’s eyes lit up when she saw the necklace. “Yes!”
She forgot her fear and snatched it up, clutching it to her chest like a treasure.
Annan curled her lips. “Xu Xi, do you know who I am?”
Xu Xi shook her head, shrinking her neck. “No.”
Annan gave her a strange smile. “I’m a psychotic murderer.”
The girl, already trembling, started shaking even harder.
Annan lifted her chin. “Now, get up, run back to your place, hide under your covers, and don’t make a sound. Otherwise…”
“Yes, yes! Psycho lady—no, killer lady, I’ll go right now!”
She scrambled to her feet and bolted toward the residential area, half running, half crawling.
But after just a few steps, she suddenly turned back.
Annan raised an eyebrow. “You really—”
Before she could finish, Xu Xi suddenly dropped to her knees and knocked her head on the ground twice with a loud “thud.”
“Thank you, big sister! This necklace is really important to me, thank you!”
Then she jumped up, rubbed her head, and ran off as fast as she could.
Annan watched her fleeing figure for a moment, then couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
What an interesting girl.
Annan bent down, grabbed the corpse again, and headed for Villa 18.
From the outside, Villa 18 looked no different from her own. The front door also had an ordinary key lock.
Annan found the key on Yang Ruifeng and let herself in.
There wasn’t much of use inside, except for a room on the second floor with the same kind of fingerprint lock as Hou Jianming’s.
Annan knew this must be what she was looking for.
She dragged Yang Ruifeng upstairs, used his face and fingerprint to unlock the door.
All the windows inside were covered with black tape. Annan turned on the light and found that the room was basically a miniature workshop.
There were machines and tools she didn’t recognize, and piles of metal materials everywhere.
This must have been Yang Ruifeng’s gun-making workshop.
She glanced around. Even though she didn’t know how to use the tools, she still put all the materials and machines into her storage space.
After making sure there were no more guns, Annan gathered up some loose bullets she found and left.
After leaving Villa 18, she used her blink ability to randomly check a few more villas, but didn’t find anything useful.
Not surprising—these people only worked for the base in exchange for food. What good stuff could they possibly have?
After a quick look around, Annan headed back to her own villa.
When she got downstairs, she saw the Humvee was still parked in the yard, and the lights were still on upstairs.
Gu Zhiyu hadn’t left yet?
Annan thought for a moment, then took out two shotguns and slung them over her back, grabbed a box of ammo, and went upstairs.
The door on the second floor was open. Gu Zhiyu was sitting on the sofa. When he heard her come in, he looked over. “You’re back?”
Annan wondered, Is he not mad anymore?
She nodded and glanced into his room. “Did you move all your stuff out?”
Gu Zhiyu: “Yeah.”
He’s pretty quick.
Annan: “Then why are you still here?”
Gu Zhiyu stood up and walked toward her. “Nothing to do back there. I thought I’d wait here and help you move your things.”
Annan: …
Honestly, if you just left, I could use my storage space. It’d be even easier.
But he meant well.
Annan glanced at his arm. “Is your arm okay?”
Her stuff was heavy. She didn’t want him to dislocate his shoulder again.
Gu Zhiyu looked at her. “Second time now.”
Annan was confused. “Second time what?”
Gu Zhiyu: “You said I’m not capable.”
Annan’s face flushed. “…I was just worried about your injury!”
Why couldn’t he see she was being considerate?
Gu Zhiyu smiled. “Don’t worry. I’m very capable.”
With that, he was about to go upstairs to help her move.
“Wait.”
Annan stopped him and pointed at the guns on her back. “Aren’t you going to ask where I got these?”
In the whole of Linbei City, he was probably the only one who could act like shotguns were no big deal.
This was a shotgun! Shouldn’t he at least show some respect?
Gu Zhiyu replied, “Nothing to ask. I can guess you got them from Hou Jianming.”
When she said she had something to do, he’d guessed she was going to Hou Jianming’s room to look for something.
Since she came back with guns, it was obvious what she’d found.
Annan looked at Gu Zhiyu in confusion.
There wasn’t the slightest hint in his eyes that he wanted to split the guns with her.
Shouldn’t the normal reaction be: “Where’d you get those? These are our spoils of war, you should give me one.”
That would make sense, right?
So why did this guy act like he didn’t care about anything at all?"
