Chapter 72: Sun Peng’s Fury
Natural Disasters and the End of the World
Sun Peng, who had been keeping a close eye on the goings-on on the fourteenth floor, was so angry at home that he nearly flipped the table.
Wang Xiaoyu, standing beside him, grumbled resentfully, “That Chu Peipei is really hard to kill!”
Hearing this, Sun Peng raised his hand and slapped her across the face.
“Shut up! If you hadn’t brought this up out of nowhere yesterday, would my cousin be dead now?!”
Wang Xiaoyu covered her face, feeling wronged.
How was this her fault? Wasn’t it his idea to trick An Nan away and then take the chance to kill Chu Peipei? He was the one who decided to send his cousin—she never suggested it.
With her face full of grievance, Wang Xiaoyu cursed him viciously in her heart.
Pah! Men are all the same—once they get what they want, they stop cherishing it.
If he wasn’t at least a little capable, able to get his hands on plenty of supplies, she would’ve left him long ago.
Grinding her teeth inwardly, Wang Xiaoyu calculated:
Damn old man! Once you get your wife’s inheritance, I’ll grab a big cut for myself and dump you on the spot!
I’ll take the money, go back to my hometown, start a small business, and never have to put up with a man’s crap again!
I’ll be a strong, independent woman of the new era.
Thinking of this, she wiped away her tears and leaned over, looking soft and delicate.
“Brother Sun, don’t be mad at Xiaoyu. It’s all my fault…”
Sun Peng, who had just slapped her without hesitation, was already less angry. Now, seeing her with a red handprint on her face, acting so gentle and pitiful, his expression softened even more.
This Wang Xiaoyu really was a natural-born seductress—unlike his wife, that shrew.
Just because she could make a bit of money, his wife bossed him around every day, not a trace of feminine gentleness to her.
He cleared his throat. “Alright, stop crying. It’s not all your fault. Sun Gang was just too stupid. I even got him a police uniform, and he still couldn’t scare An Nan!”
Wang Xiaoyu wiped her tears in fake distress. “Poor Gang-di… That An Nan is really tough to deal with.”
At the mention of An Nan, Sun Peng’s face turned cold.
Although Sun Gang was just a cousin and they weren’t that close, blood was still blood.
Now An Nan had gotten him killed—how could he not be furious?
Right now, he couldn’t be bothered with Chu Peipei anymore; all his anger was focused on An Nan.
But as angry as he was, he knew what kind of person An Nan was. No matter how mad, he wasn’t stupid enough to go head-to-head with her.
He didn’t want to end up dead like his cousin.
Gritting his teeth, Sun Peng said, “Let her be arrogant for a few more days. Once order is restored, I’ll make sure she ends up in prison sewing clothes!”
Wang Xiaoyu reminded him, “Sewing clothes? After all the people she’s killed, she’ll be eating a bullet for sure once she’s inside!”
Hearing this, Sun Peng felt much better.
That’s right!
The disaster is over—how could she possibly have a good ending? Not worth getting angry over.
Having thought it through, he cheerfully pulled Wang Xiaoyu into his arms. “Baby, did that slap hurt just now?”
Wang Xiaoyu pouted. “Xiaoyu’s not hurt, I just don’t want you to be upset.”
But inside, she rolled her eyes.
Money’s hard to earn, and shit’s hard to swallow.
Men have no real feelings—his cousin just died, he was furious a moment ago, and now he’s already making moves on her.
If he doesn’t care about his own family, how could he possibly care about her?
Pah! Trust a man, and you’ll be miserable your whole life.
On the surface, though, she didn’t show a thing, snuggling up to him sweetly. “Brother Sun, you’re the best~”
Seeing Wang Xiaoyu’s coy manner, Sun Peng felt a familiar itch and started pulling her toward the bedroom.
But Wang Xiaoyu was in no mood for that—she’d just been slapped by him!
Her eyes darted. “Brother Sun, Gang-di’s body is still upstairs. Shouldn’t we go take care of it?”
Sun Peng frowned. “If we go now, An Nan might link it back to me. Better leave it for a couple of days. When the smell gets bad, I’ll go clean it up as the building rep.”
Wang Xiaoyu: …
When it comes to being ruthless, you really take the cake!
To avoid being dragged into the bedroom, she quickly found another excuse.
“Why don’t we go out for a walk? I haven’t been downstairs since the flood receded~”
With her constant distractions, Sun Peng lost interest and agreed to take her out.
The two of them left the apartment. As they reached the third floor, they ran into Bai Wenbin and Qian Yinger, who were coming back in, chatting and laughing.
Sun Peng and Wang Xiaoyu were both stunned.
Weren’t these siblings supposed to have fallen out? Not long ago, the brother was beating his sister at home every day.
The sounds coming out of their apartment were downright brutal.
How were they suddenly all smiles now?
Qian Yinger, noticing their stares, nodded and smiled politely in greeting.
Wang Xiaoyu, curious, asked, “Huh? Are you better now?”
Qian Yinger was momentarily taken aback, then realized what she meant and pointed to her head. “You mean this?”
She looked a bit embarrassed. “I had a head injury before, so I was a bit out of it for a while. Sorry you had to see that. My brother’s already helped me recover.”
Her brother helped her recover? How?
Wang Xiaoyu glanced at Bai Wenbin, at a loss for words.
With beatings and abuse?
Was this some new kind of ‘fight poison with poison’ therapy…?
Bai Wenbin coughed awkwardly and quickly changed the subject. “You two heading out?”
Wang Xiaoyu collected herself and nodded. “Yes, just going for a stroll.”
Suddenly, Sun Peng interjected, “Hey, that An Nan on the 14th floor killed someone again today. Scared Xiaoyu half to death, so I’m taking her out for some fresh air.”
As he spoke, he carefully watched their reactions.
Sure enough, at the mention of An Nan, both their expressions changed—especially Qian Yinger, whose hatred was practically written on her face.
Sun Peng knew these siblings were at odds with An Nan.
To secure the most advantageous position, he made it his business to know everything about everyone in the building—especially someone as powerful and well-supplied as An Nan.
Back when all the neighbors ganged up on the fourteenth floor, it was Qian Yinger who incited it, and she’d even confronted An Nan directly.
It was obvious they knew each other.
Since they were acquaintances but had never received help from An Nan, there had to be bad blood. These siblings probably hated An Nan more than anyone else.
Sowing discord was Sun Peng’s specialty.
He leaned in conspiratorially. “And the person she killed today wasn’t just anyone—it was a cop.”
Qian Yinger’s eyes widened. “A cop? She’s that bold??”
Sun Peng nodded. “Yep. If she dares attack a cop, you can imagine how crazy she is. If you ever cross her, who knows how bad it could get.”
Watching Bai Wenbin’s anxious expression, Sun Peng laughed to himself.
What do you do when you meet a powerful opponent?
Simple—stir up trouble so you can act when the time is right.
With just a few words, Sun Peng had successfully unsettled the siblings. Satisfied, he put his arm around Wang Xiaoyu and walked away."
